JOURNEY THROUGH THE NEW TESTAMENT: JOHN 3 & 4
October 6, 2025
CURRENT SERIES: RED LETTERS
This year, we are taking a journey through the New Testament. It begins with 4 accounts of Jesus called the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. We are looking at the words of Jesus found in the first four books of the New Testament. He has words of life, hope, peace, and guidance. You can review the videos of the series here.
RECAP
Today, we looked at a few people who encountered Jesus in the book of John (John 3, 4 & 12). We saw how Jesus handled each situation with love. He lifts up the downcast. He came not to condemn, but to save. He is the light.
QUESTIONS: Read John 3:1-21
1. New Birth & the Spirit
Jesus tells Nicodemus, “You must be born again/from above” (3:7).
Where in my life am I relying on my own efforts, knowledge, or religious routines rather than the Spirit’s renewing work?
2. Faith & the Cross
Jesus says, “As Moses lifted up the serpent… so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life” (3:14–15).
What does it mean for me, personally, to “look to Christ” in faith when I am facing guilt, fear, or struggles?
3. Light & Darkness
Jesus declares, “This is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light” (3:19).
Are there areas of my life I keep in “the dark” instead of bringing them into Christ’s light? What might stepping into the light look like this week?
