1 & 2 CORINTHIANS SERIES: CHECK YOURSELF

This year, we are taking a journey through the New Testament. We are currently in the books of 1 & 2 Corinthians. This book is actually a letter written by Paul to the church in Corinth. He looks to deal with past influence and problems that are interfering with the ways of Jesus.

RECAP

For week 3 of our series, we mainly looked at the first part of 2 Corinthians. Paul writes about the way of the cross. It’s a new perspective shapes on eternity, not our momentary struggles or successes.  It’s identifying with Christ through suffering, embracing our weakness to see the strength of God in our life, and living for something bigger than ourselves.

BIBLE

2 Corinthians 4:6-18, 2 Corinthians 51-7, 15-21, 2 Corinthians 12:5-10

QUESTIONS

  1. Read 2 Corinthians 4. What is this passage saying about walking in the way of the cross? How does the truth that God has shone the light of Christ into my heart (2 Cor 4:6) change the way I see my weaknesses and struggles?
  2. Read 2 Corinthians 5. What is this passage saying about walking in the way of the cross? How does the hope of my eternal, heavenly dwelling (2 Cor 5:1–4) shape the way I live in my current body and circumstances?
  3. Read 2 Corinthians 12. What is this passage saying about walking in the way of the cross? How does Paul’s perspective on weakness challenge your view of yourself and what God wants to do in and through you?
